Weidener Wasserballer in Fulda gefordert

Die haben am kommenden Samstag die Weidener Wasserballer zu knacken, wenn sie keinen Dämpfer im Kampf um den Meistertitel einstecken wollen.
Die Wasserfreunde aus Fulda stehen im Moment auf dem vierten Tabellenrang, halten aber immer noch den Anschluss zur Tabellenspitze und werden ihn sicherlich nicht einfach verlieren wollen. Die Hessen sind traditionell sehr ehrgeizig und motiviert, werden lautstark durch meist vollgefühlte Tribüne unterstützt und gelten als sehr ernstzunehmender Gegner. Mit ihrem Topschützen David Horwath, der mit seinen 63 Saisontoren fast die Hälfte (140 insgesamt) der erzielten Tore seines Teams erzielt hat, sind die Schützlinge des Trainer Volker Schunke schwer zu verteidigen. Es wird in dieser Partie schwer auf die Verfassung des Weidener Torhüters und der Centerverteidiger ankommen. Bekommt die Weidener Abwehr den starken Center in den Griff, so eröffnen sich viel mehr Chancen, aus eigenen Konterangriffen Kapital zu schlagen. Die Mannschaft um den Kapitän Thomas Kick ist in einer guten Verfassung und sieht sich gut gewappnet für die Aufgabe in Fulda. „In den letzten Spielen wurden wir nicht wirklich gefordert, das kann schon ein Nachteil sein, uns ist aber bewusst, dass uns in Fulda ganz anderer Gegner erwartet und werden alles unternehmen, unsere beste Leistung abzurufen. Wir wollen endlich ein wichtiges Spiel auswärts gewinnen“ erklärt der Kapitän.
Die Weidener liegen zwar immer noch im Soll, haben bisher aber zwei Auswärtsspiele gegen die direkte Konkurrenz verloren, zwar knapp und unglücklich aber verloren und dies wollen sie nicht wieder erleben: „Es bringt uns nichts, wenn wir haushoch gegen Mannschaften gewinnen, die uns in der Endabrechnung nicht tangieren, es ist wichtig gegen die direkte Konkurrenz zu glänzen und nicht auf Schützenhilfe hoffen, um am Ende vorne zu landen. Wir brauchen in Fulda einen Sieg“ gibt Trainer Thomas Aigner die Route vor.
Bis auf den Routinier Andreas Jahn (beruflich verhindert), scheinen im Moment alle Spieler des Weidener Kaders einsatzfähig zu sein, auch wenn einige leicht angeschlagen sind. Die SV-Verantwortlichen hoffen, von der allgemeinen Grippewelle verschont zu bleiben und eine schlagfertige Truppe nach Hessen zu schicken.
