Potsdam siegt im lokalen Pokalfight bei der SG Neukölln 10:7
Mit einer eindrucksvollen Vorstellung hat sich der OSC Potsdam zum vierten Mal in Folge (!) ins Final Four des Deutschen Pokals gespielt. Im Auswärtsspiel bei der SG Neukölln wurde diese im Viertelfinale am Donnerstag-Abend mit 10:7 (3:3, 3:2, 3:1, 1:1) niedergerungen. In einer über weite Strecken offenen Partie gaben die mannschaftliche Geschlossenheit und die gerade nach der Halbzeit offensichtlichen konditionellen Vorteile der jungen OSC-Truppe den Ausschlag.
„Endlich haben wir wieder als Team gespielt“, war Potsdams Trainer Alexander Tchigir zufrieden mit seinen Mannen. „Heute ging es um mehr als den Einzug ins Final Four.“ Vor genau neun Wochen hatte der Berliner Lokalrivale dem OSC nämlich die empfindlichste Saisonniederlage zugefügt. Im heimischen Sport- und Freizeitbad blu siegte Neukölln nach desolater Potsdamer Leistung 16:11. Danach folgten drei weitere Niederlagen, in denen das Tchigir-Team oft unter seinen Möglichkeiten blieb. „Dieser Sieg war ganz wichtig“, freute sich auch OSC-Kapitän und dreifacher Torschütze Hannes Schulz. „Es war zu spüren, dass jeder in der Mannschaft die Scharte aus dem schwachen November-Spiel auswetzen wollte.“
Dabei ging der OSC mit großem Handicap ins erste Spielviertel. Aus beruflichen Gründen schaffte es Keeper Marc Langer erst zum zweiten Abschnitt in die Schöneberger Halle, weswegen Center Max Kössler zunächst das Tor hütete. „Dass wir dennoch dieses Viertel ausgeglichen gestalten konnten, war eine wichtige Grundlage für den weiteren Spielverlauf“, erklärte Potsdams Co-Trainer André Laube. Dem 1:0 der Gastgeber nach einer Zeitstrafe gegen Centerverteidiger Reiko Zech folgte der postwendende Ausgleichstreffer von Deni Cerniar ebenfalls in Überzahl. Auch die folgenden Führungstreffer der Hausherren wurden durch Reiko Zech und Hannes Schulz jeweils zum 2:2 bzw. 3:3 egalisiert.
Mit nun Langer zwischen den Pfosten, der eine glänzende Partie hinlegte, steigerte sich der OSC defensiv von Minute zu Minute. Ein Extralob erarbeitete sich diesbezüglich auch der 17-jährige Junioren-Nationalspieler Lu Meo Ulrich, der mit einer starken Leistung in der zentralen Verteidigung die beiden Star-Center Andreas Schlotterbeck und Spencer Hamby aus dem Spiel nahm. Diese hatten beim 11:16 in Potsdam noch sieben Treffer erzielen können und blieben diesmal torlos.
Vorn sorgten Zech und Ferdinand Korbel für die 5:3-Führung, bevor Neukölln in Überzahl verkürzte. Der starke Zech traf nach Potsdamer Konter zum 6:4, mit einem knappen 6:5-Vorsprung ging es in die Halbzeit. Zwar konnte Neukölln per Strafwurf zum 6:6 ausgleichen, danach schienen die Berliner konditionell aber ausgelaugt. Christian Saggau erzielte in Überzahl das 7:6, Ulrich traf nach tollem Pass des fleißigen Tomi Tadin im Konter zum 8:6. Die Vorentscheidung besorgte Schulz der kurz vor der Pause zum 9:6 einschoss.
Der Kapitän war es auch, der knapp fünf Minuten vor dem Abpfiff den Sack mit seinem dritten Treffer zum 10:6 zuband. Den Neuköllnern gelang zwar noch der Treffer zum 10:7-Endstand, in Gefahr geriet der Viertelfinal-Sieg des OSC allerdings nicht mehr. „Jetzt dürfen wir nicht Euphorie verfallen und müssen weiter so seriös wie in den letzten Wochen trainieren“, mahnt Laube. Die nächsten schweren Aufgaben warten bereits. Am 3. Februar geht es daheim gegen die White Sharks Hannover. Eine Woche später kommt es zur Neuauflage des Lokalderbys, wenn der OSC erneut bei der SG Neukölln gastiert.
