SVL empfängt im Achtelfinale des DSV-Pokals Erstligisten Duisburg 98
Nach Siegen über die HSG Warnemünde und den SC Chemnitz 1892 darf der SVL im Deutschen Pokal in Runde drei gegen den frisch gebackenen Erstligisten Duisburg 98 ran. Der SVL ist eine der letzten drei Mannschaften, die aktuell nicht in der DWL spielen und noch im Pokalgeschehen mitmischen. Angepfiffen wird die Begegnung am Samstag um 17.45 Uhr im Stadionbad Ludwigsburg.
„Das ist eine schwierige Aufgabe für uns. Auf dem Papier sind das klare Verhältnisse, aber wir werden versuchen es ihnen schwer zu machen!“ erklärte Spielertrainer Adrijan Jakovcev der die Duisburger bei ihrem 12:8-Auswärtssieg in Cannstatt unter die Lupe genommen hatte. „Sie kommen als klarer Favorit hier her, wir haben also nichts zu verlieren.“ ergänzte der Kroate. Der Underdog aus der Barockstadt hat nicht nur nichts zu verlieren, er spielt auch im eigenen Becken und die Partie ist für das Team um Jakovcev etwas nicht alltägliches. Der Linkshänder weiß: „Wenn wir einen richtig guten Tag haben könnte es durchaus ziemlich spannend werden“.
Der SVL hatte in Runde eins die HSG Warnemünde mit 21:10 nach Hause geschickt. Auch in Runde zwei überzeugten die Schwaben, die erneut Heimrecht genießen durften. Mit 26:11 ließ man auch den Gästen aus Chemnitz keine Chance. „Wir hatten in den ersten beiden Runden schon richtig Losglück. Da hätte es uns beide Male bereits wesentlich schlimmer erwischen können, sowohl vom Gegner, als auch vom Fahrtweg her!“ erklärte Abteilungsleiter Jan Wörsinger, der wie viele Andere, bereits der Partie am Samstag entgegenfiebert. Außer Laatzen, Iserlohn und Ludwigsburg sind nur noch Erstligisten im Rennen. „Duisburg hat sich bislang in der DWL sehr gut geschlagen. Trotzdem gehören sie nicht zu den absoluten Spitzenteams weshalb wir uns nicht von vorn herein geschlagen geben werden!“ so der 30-Jährige.
In der Tat wussten die 98er bislang zu überzeugen. Der Aufsteiger steht aktuell in der B-Gruppe auf Rang drei (insgesamt acht Mannschaften). Bilanz nach dem fünften Spieltag: Bislang unterlagen die Duisburger nur einmal, beim SC Wedding musste man sich mit einer knappen 7:8-Niederlage geschlagen geben. Ansonsten konnte 98 drei Heimsiege verbuchen. Gegner dabei waren Neukölln, Neustadt und Weiden, hinzu kommt ein Auswärtssieg gegen Cannstatt. Im Pokal deklassierte der Erstligist in Runde eins auswärts den HSC Hellas 1899 Hildesheim mit 19:4, in Runde zwei kickte das Team den Liga-Konkurrenten SC Neustadt mit einem 11:5-Heimsieg aus dem Pokal.
