Bundesliga-Wasserballer unterliegen nach gutem Auftritt 10:16 gegen Waspo im DWL-Halbfinale
Das Wasserball-Bundesliga-Team des OSC Potsdam blieb zwar im ersten von maximal fünf Halbfinal-Partien gegen die hochfavorisierten Waspo 98 Hannover ohne Siegchance, verkaufte sich aber teuer. Im Sportbad blu unterlag die Mannschaft von Trainer Alexander Tchigir am Samstag-Abend vor gut 200 Zuschauern 10:16 (2:5, 3:5, 2:4, 3:2). Am kommenden Wochenende folgen Spiel zwei und drei der Best-of-five-Serie in Hannover, „und dann wird das Duell auch vorzeitig beendet sein“, schätzt André Laube, sportlicher Leiter der OSC-Wasserballer, realistisch ein.
„Die Jungs haben das heute über weite Strecken sehr gut gemacht“, so Laube. „Wenn man sich solch schweren Aufgaben in dieser Art und Weise stellt, dann bringt das die Mannschaft wirklich weiter.“ Immerhin reiste das Hannoveraner Profi-Team in Bestbesetzung nach Potsdam und konnte eben dennoch nicht vollkommen nach Belieben schalten und walten. „Wir bekommen zwar noch ein paar zu einfache Treffer zu viel, aber insgesamt können wir zufrieden sein“, schätzte auch Trainer Tchigir ein. „Nach recht schneller Führung hat aber Waspo auch einen Gang zurückgeschaltet.“ Gleich die ersten beiden Angriffe verwandelten die montenegrinischen Starspieler Aleksandar Radovic und Darko Brguljan zur 2:0-Führung. Reiko Zech verkürzte zwar in Überzahl, doch die Gäste legten sofort zum 4:1 nach. Mit einem spektakulären Schuss von Rechtsaußen erzielte Deni Cerniar den zweiten OSC-Treffer, mit dem Spielstand von 2:5 ging es in die erste Pause.
Das zweite Viertel eröffnete Cerniar mit einem schönen Tor zum 3:5, in der Folge setzte sich das Champions League-Team von der Leine aber auf 8:3 ab. Potsdam steckte nicht auf; mit seinem dritten Schuss von Rechtsaußen überwand Cerniar wieder den deutschen Nationaltorhüter Moritz Schenkel, das 5:8 markierte Thilo Popp nach gut vorgetragenem Konter. Zwei schnelle Treffer Waspos stellten aber die Kräfteverhältnisse zum Seitenwechsel (5:10) wieder klar.
Die zweite Halbzeit verlor dann der OSC lediglich mit 5:6, konnte sogar das Schlussviertel mit 3:2 für sich entscheiden. Dabei trafen für den Gastgeber im dritten Abschnitt Zech zum 6:12 und Tomi Tadin zum 7:13. Im letzten Durchgang erzielte Tadin per Strafwurf das 8:15, Erik Miers das 9:15 und Zech das 10:15.
„Für uns ist wichtig, dass das Team jetzt auswärts in Hannover mit der gleichen Moral und Spielfreude auftritt. An Spielen gegen diese hochklassigen Gegner können wir nur wachsen“, sagt Laube. „Mit dem Pokalfinale Anfang Mai und der voraussichtlichen Best-of-three-Serie gegen Duisburg um DWL-Bronze stehen noch die für uns entscheidenden Aufgaben an.“
