Weidener U14 verliert erst im Finale
(prg) Am vergangenen Sonntag wurde die 15. Auflage des Roßmann Cups in der Weidener Thermenwelt ausgetragen. Die U14-Mannschaften von fünf Vereinen absolvierten ein Tagesturnier mit insgesamt 10 Spielen. Eigentlich war ein 6er Turner geplant, doch die Stammgäste aus Würzburg musste am Sonntagmorgen wegen Wetterkapriolen die Reise nach Weiden abbrechen und kurzfristige ihre Teilnahme absagen. Das Spielmodus wurde auf „jeder gegen jeden“ geändert und das Turnier lief mit zehn Spielen reibungslos ab.
Der OSC Potsdam, der zum ersten Mal um den Roßmann Cup spielte, holte sich, gleich im ersten Versuch, ungeschlagen den Pott. Erst im Finale bekamen die Brandenburger mit dem SV Weiden einen ernstzunehmenden Gegner. Die Ostdeutschen setzten sich nach einem packenden Spiel mit 7:5 gegen die Schäfer-Schützlinge durch. Im Spiel um Platz drei setzten sich die Stadtwerke München gegen die Franken vom 1.FC Nürnberg mit 5:4 durch. Den letzten Platz belegte überraschend der Gast aus Tschechien Asten Johnson Strakonice.
Das gesamte Turnier verlief in einer sportlich sehr fairen und freundschaftlichen Atmosphäre. Alle Teilnehmer konnten ausgiebig für die kommenden Aufgaben in den jeweiligen Landesmeisterschaften, Landesgruppenturnieren üben, um ihre Saisonziele gestärkt verfolgen zu können. Die Sonderauszeichnung für den besten Turnierspieler bekam der Potsdamer Dennis Beck, zum besten Torwart wurde der Münchner Philip Siebenhaar gekürt. Die Pokale und Trophäen wurden während der Siegerehrung durch den Namensgeber des Turniers und den Ehrenwasserballer des Schwimmvereines Weiden Helmut Roßmann senior überreicht.
