Auf ein weiteres bekanntes Gesicht muss der Wasserballsport in Baden-Württemberg nun endgültig verzichten: Am vergangenen Montag ist der Stuttgarter Walter Klewar im Alter von 75 Jahren verstorben, der lange Jahre für die Sportart im Einsatz gewesen ist.
Klewar begann mit dem Wasserballspiel als Aktiver bereits in jungen Jahren beim 1. Stuttgarter Amateur-Schwimm-Klub und kam später beim SV Cannstatt auch zu Erstligaehren. Nach der Karriere im Becken war er bis zuletzt beim MTV Stuttgart lange Jahre als Vereinswasserballwart aktiv.
Im baden-württembergischen Wasserball war Klewar unter anderem als Rundenleiter in Ober- und Verbandsliga im Einsatz. Nicht nur am Neckar, sondern auch in Diensten des DSV war der Stuttgarter vielfach am Beckenrand als Spielbeobachter und Turnierleiter zu sehen, und bis zum vergangenen Sommer fungierte der frühere Prokurist ebenso als Geschäftsführer des Fördervereins Wasserball.
Die Trauerfeier findet am kommenden Dienstag von 13 Uhr an in der Markuskirche Stuttgart statt.
