Beim 6:11 (1:2/3:2/1:2/1:5) gegen den Tabellenzweiten SC Neustadt lässt man etwas fahrlässig ein besseres Ergebnis liegen. Das Spiel gleicht der Partie der Vorwochen gegen den Duisburger SV, bei dem man ebenfalls bis ins Schlussviertel mithalten konnte.

Doch dann wendete sich das Blatt und die Ludwigsburger bekamen das Spiel besser in den Griff. Pavle Vukicevic und Mannschaftskapitän Adrijan Jakovcev egalisierten das Spiel mit zwei Treffern in Überzahl zum 4:4 zum Ende des zweiten Spielabschnitts.
Entsprechend motiviert kamen die Ludwigsburger aus der Halbzeitpause und spielten nun auch offensiv druckvoller, scheiterten aber am gegnerischen Torgehäuse oder am Spieler des Spiels im Tor der Gäste Ivan Pisk. Auf der anderen Seite nutzte der Kapitän der Gäste eine Überzahlsituation zur erneuten Führung von 4:5. Diese glich Tim Hornuf zum 5:5 mit einem überraschenden Distanzschuss aus. In der Folge scheiterten beide Angriffsreihen an den gut aufgelegten Torhütern.

Nachdem der Ludwigsburger Center Filip Zugic bei zwei Angriffsversuche mit gegen ihn gewerteten Offensivfouls gestoppt wurde, setzte sich Mitko Natchev in zentraler Position kraftvoll durch und versenkte den Ball zum 5:6 im SVL-Tor. Mit diesem Ein-Tore-Rückstand gingen beide Mannschaften in die letzte Pause.
Der erste Angriff der Blau-Weißen endete wiederum bei Natchev, der den Ball aus der Centerposition zum 5:7 ins Tor wischte. Adam Blank verkürzte aus 9 Metern eiskalt zum 6:7 und die Emotionen auf der Tribüne wogen hoch. Matthias Held erkannte einen Stellungsfehler in der Ludwigsburger Defensive und platzierte den Ball routiniert im Tor von Josip Katusa. Diesem 6:8 lies Laurence Tummings unmittelbar darauf das vorentscheidenden 6:9 folgen.
Die Ludwigsburger hatten in den letzten vier Minuten nichts mehr entgegensetzen und Mitko Nachev und Martin Görge sorgten für den 6:11-Endstand. Das Ergebnis spiegelt die Kräfteverhältnisse nicht in Gänze wieder, waren zwar die Gäste konstant in Führung liegend, aber dabei die Ludwigsburger bis in das Schlussviertel ebenbürtig.
