Am letzten Donnerstag, 23.11.2017, mussten die Wasserball-Männer der SG Neukölln beim Tabellendritten OSC Potsdam antreten. Die Männer von SGN-Coach Thomas Schertwitis legten einen souveräner Start-Ziel-Sieg hin und beendeten das Spiel mit 11:16 (3:5/4:4/2:4/2:3). Für beide Mannschaften war es das dritte Spiel innerhalb von 6 Tagen. Scheinbar gelang es den Neuköllnern besser zu regenerieren, denn von der ersten Sekunde an, waren sie hellwach und bestimmten das Spiel. Bis zum Ende des 1. Viertels war es ein Hin und Her, bis die Neuköllner dann Ihre Erfahrungen in die Waagschale warfen und Tor um Tor, bis zum 9:5 davon zogen. Ein hervorragend aufgelegter Florian Thom, im Tor der Neuköllner, sowie etwas Glück, dass die Potsdamer ihre gefürchteten Konter nicht erfolgreich abschließen konnten, waren aber auch dabei. Das Spiel wurde zu keinem Zeitpunkt mehr spannend. Die Potsdamer schwammen immerzu einem Mindestvorsprung von 2 Toren hinterher. Teilweise lagen die Neuköllner mit 5 Toren in Front. Potsdam konnte seiner Favoritenrolle nicht gerecht werden. Auch die Mithilfe der U23-Spandau-Akteure oder das Überzahlverhältnis von 9:4 für Potsdam, änderte daran nichts. „Eine geschlossene Mannschaftsleistung war heute der Erfolgsgarant“, resümiert Routinier Sascha Pacyna. „Unsere starken Center Andreas Schlotterbeck und Spencer Hamby haben einen tollen Job gemacht. Und wenn das nicht klappte, traf der Rückraum“. Die Center der Neuköllner, Schlotterbeck und Hamby trafen zusammen siebenmal. Spencer Hamby wurde mit seinen 4 Treffern auch verdient zum Spieler des Tages gekürt. Die SG Neukölln hat sich somit aus sechs Spielen 5 Punkte erkämpft und rangiert auf Platz 5 der DWL Gruppe A, nur 1 Punkt hinter dem OSC Potsdam.
