OSC empfängt im Achtelfinale am Samstag die White Sharks Hannover

„Das wird ein absoluter Knaller“, glaubt André Laube, sportlicher Leiter der OSC-Wasserballer. „Die Klubs verbindet seit einigen Jahren eine gesunde sportlich faire Rivalität.“ Beide Vereine legen in ihrer Philosophie besonderen Wert auf eine nachhaltige Nachwuchsgewinnung und –entwicklung. In nahezu allen Altersklassen spielen sowohl die White Sharks als auch der OSC in der nationalen Spitze mit. „Zuletzt hatte Hannover die besseren Ergebnisse in der Jugend, wir waren etwas erfolgreicher bei den Männern“, so Laube. „Diese Tendenz im Herrenbereich wollen wir mit einem Sieg im Pokal am Sonnabend unterstreichen.“
Der Blick auf die Tabelle der noch jungen DWL-Saison ist nicht sonderlich aussagekräftig. Zwar liegt der OSC aktuell mit 2:4 Punkten (29:37 Tore) auf dem vierten Rang des Klassements, während die „Haie“ (0:6 / 23:44) den achten Platz belegen, jedoch hatten beide Vereine mit einem äußerst schweren Auftaktprogramm zu kämpfen. Hannover musste direkt gegen die drei stärksten Klubs des Vorjahres ran und unterlag Waspo 98 Hannover (10:22), dem ASC Duisburg (9:11) und den Wasserfreunden Spandau 04 (4:11). Potsdam verlor zunächst 1:15 gegen Spandau und 8:15 gegen Waspo, bevor nun die erste „lösbare“ Aufgabe am letzten Sonnabend mit Bravour bewältigt wurde. 20:7 wurde der SSV Esslingen aus dem blu geschossen.
„Aber nicht nur wir haben in der letzten Partie gut gespielt, auch die Sharks haben sich mit 4:11 bei Spandau sehr gut verkauft“, warnt OSC-Trainer Alexander Tchigir. „Die Defensivleistung wurde von allen Beteiligten sehr gelobt.“ Gerade das Torhüter-Team der Hannoveraner Kevin Götz und Dominik Schimanski sei nicht so leicht zu überwinden. Offensiv zeichnete sich bislang vor allem der quirlige Centerspieler Felix Struß auf Hannoveraner Seite aus. Mit zehn Treffern in den ersten drei Spielen führt er die A-Gruppen-Torschützenliste an und wusste auch mit drei Buden gegen Spandau zu gefallen.
„Wir müssen an unsere Leistung von letzter Woche anknüpfen“, sagt Potsdams Mannschaftskapitän Hannes Schulz. „Mit unseren Zuschauern im Rücken wollen wir wieder mit einer guten Verteidigung und schnellem Umschaltspiel die Begegnung für uns entscheiden. Gegen Esslingen haben wir über die komplette Spielzeit als Mannschaft agiert. Das hat richtig Spaß gemacht.“
