Erste Supercup-Teilnahme des OSC endet mit dem vierten Rang
Die Wasserball-Herren des OSC Potsdam haben den ersten Medaillengewinn auf nationaler Ebene knapp verpasst. Beim Supercup, dem Duell der besten vier Mannschaften der letzten Saison, in Berlin verloren die Jungs von Trainer Alexander Tchigir die drei Begegnungen gegen die Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 (8:17), Waspo 98 Hannover (6:12) und Amateur SC Duisburg (9:10).
Besonders bitter gestaltete sich dabei das letzte Match am Sonntag gegen Duisburg. In einem offenen Schlagabtausch verlor der OSC Ende des dritten Viertels kurz den Faden und geriet zu Beginn des Schlussabschnitts 5:10 ins Hintertreffen. Eine sensationelle Aufholjagd mit Treffern der „alten Hasen“ Hannes Schulz (3) und Erik Miers (1) blieb allerdings unbelohnt. Im letzten Angriff blieb ein Schuss von Deni Cerniar am Innenpfosten kleben und damit der vierte Platz bestehen. „Schlussendlich geht das Ergebnis in Ordnung“, bewertete Potsdams sportlicher Leiter André Laube. „Um eine Medaille zu gewinnen, muss wirklich jedes Mannschaftsteil an seine absolute Belastungsgrenze gehen. Das haben bei uns nicht alle getan. Kompliment an die erfahrenen Spieler, die sich zu hundert Prozent eingesetzt haben.“ Insgesamt sei die Gesamtleistung der Mannschaft im Turnier aber sehr positiv zu bewerten, so Laube: „Wir haben uns in allen Bereichen im Vergleich zu den Vorwochen gesteigert. Das war neben der Medaille eine weitere wichtige Zielstellung dieses hochkarätigen Wettkampfs gewesen.“
Im ersten Spiel gegen die Wasserfreunde Spandau 04, die sich noch vor Wochenfrist 15:1 in Potsdam im ersten DWL-Spiel durchsetzten, präsentierte sich der OSC couragiert. Nach schnellem 0:3-Rückstand hielt das Tchigir-Team die Partie über weite Strecken offen. Zum 5:8-Halbzeitstand trafen Thilo Popp, Miers (2), Reiko Zech und Cerniar. Danach fehlte etwas die Kraft, um das Tempo beizubehalten. Zum 7:15-Endstand trafen nach dem Seitenwechsel noch Cerniar und Christian Saggau.
Einen ähnlichen Verlauf nahm auch die Partie gegen Hannover, in der sich vor allem Potsdams Defensive um die starken Torhüter Dragan Kolesko und Marc Langer auszuzeichnen wusste. Beim 6:12 erzielten Schulz, Cerniar (2), Zech (2) und Popp die Treffer.
Im „kleinen Finale“ am Sonntag fand Potsdam gegen Duisburg besser ins Spiel. Nach 0:1-Rückstand traf zum Popp zum 1:1; Cerniar und Schulz brachten den OSC Mitte des zweiten Viertels 3:2 in Front. Nach Treffer von Miers wurden beim Stand von 4:4 die Seiten gewechselt. Nach erstmaliger Zwei-Tore-Führung des ASC (6:4) gelang Miers noch der 5:6-Anschluss, bevor der OSC vorentscheidend ins Hintertreffen geriet.
In der vom OSC gemeinsam mit Kooperationspartner Spandau ausgerichteten Veranstaltung unterlag dann im Finale der Berliner Serienmeister Waspo 98 Hannover 8:9 und zog bei der ersten Titelvergabe der neuen Saison knapp den Kürzeren.
