Der Andreas-Ehrl-Cup fand am Wochenende bereits zum 9. Mal statt. Aber dennoch war in diesem Jahr vieles anders. Denn das Turnier fand am 7. Juni im neu eröffneten Potsdamer Sport- und Freizeitbad blu statt.
Fünf Teams nahmen teil. Drei Mannschaften aus der A-Gruppe der DWL (Rekordmeister Spandau 04, Gastgeber OSC Potsdam und der jetzt von Thomas Schertwitis trainierte SG Neukölln) und außerdem der SC Wedding sowie der Aufsteiger SV Ludwigsburg aus der B-Gruppe.
Eine Woche vor dem Start der Bundesliga-Saison war das Turnier ein willkommener Test der aktuellen Teams. Spandau gewann den Andreas-Ehrl-Cup zum vierten Mal, wie zuvor 2012, 2013 und 2015.
Der Rekordmeister erzielte vier klare Siege: gegen die SG Neukölln (15:1), Ludwigsburg (20:6), Wedding (16:6) und zum Abschluss am Sonntag gegen Potsdam mit 24:7.
Mit 8:0 Punkten lagen die Wasserfreunde damit vor Neukölln (6:2), dem OSC (5:3) und den punktgleichen Ludwigsburg (1:7 / minus 22 Tore) und Wedding (-26). „Unser spielerisches Niveau war angemessen, aber es gibt selbstverständlich noch viel zu verbessern. Wir haben personell einiges ausprobiert und unseren neuen Spielern Einsatzzeiten gegeben. Dabei haben wir wichtige Erkenntnisse erzielt“, resümierte Trainer Petar Kovacevic.
Das erste DWL-Match, am kommenden Samstag (19 Uhr), tragen die 04er ebenfalls im blu aus. Dann werden sie beim OSC antreten. Der OSC hat offensichtlich nach dem misslungenen Europa-Cup-Auftritt (sechs klare Niederlagen in sechs Partien) offenbar noch einiges zu tun, um die Form der Vorsaison zurückzuerlangen. Neukölln konnte mit dem 7:7 gegen den OSC einen Erfolg erzielen. Wedding scheint aufgrund der klaren Niederlagen gegen die Berliner und Potsdamer Konkurrenten und dem Remis gegen Ludwigsburg in nächster Zeit keine hoffnungsvolle Perspektive entwickeln zu können.
Die zwei individuellen Sonderauszeichnungen des Turniers gingen im Übrigen beide an Spandauer Spieler: Mit 11 Treffern war der Neuzugang Ben Reibel der erfolgreichste Torschütze und Nikola Dedovic wurde als bester Spieler dekoriert.
