Magdeburg verliert nach großem Kampf gegen starke Prager mit 6:11 (1:1; 1:2; 3:5; 1:3)
Für das letzte Saisonheimspiel hatten sich die Magdeburger Wasserballer viel vorgenommen. Sie wollten dem souveränen Tabellenführer und erneuten Staffelsieger der Landesgruppe Ost, Stepp Prag, mit Herz und Leidenschaft Paroli bieten. Doch bevor es los ging, gab es „Romantik pur“ in der Halle. Vor den 75 Zuschauern machte WUM-Akteur Hagen Leditschke seiner Julia einen romantischen Heiratsantrag. Unter dem Applaus von Zuschauern und Spielern beantwortete sie den Antrag mit Tränen in den Augen und einem deutlichen „Ja“! Dann wurde Wasserball gespielt. Im ersten Viertel standen beide Abwehrreihen sicher. Was trotzdem durchkam, wurde meist die Beute der beiden Torhüter Detlef Klotzsch (WUM) und Martin Janus (Prag). Folgerichtig endeten das Viertel durch Tore von Carlo Cossotto (Prag) und Lukas Schulle (WUM) 1:1. Auch in den zweiten acht Minuten blieb es eng. Nur selten gelang es den Teams direkt bis vor das jeweilige Tor zu kommen. Die 1:2 Führung der Prager konterte Holger Dammbrück zum 2:2 Ausgleich. Marcel Voloscuk gelang die 2:3 Halbzeitführung für Prag. Wie so oft begann nach der Pause das „Problemviertel“ der Magdeburger. Zwar konnte Holger Dammbrück die zwischenzeitliche 2:4 Führung per 5m Strafwurf verkürzen, dann zogen die Tschechen jedoch auf 3:7 davon. Das Ergebnis täuscht bis dahin den Spielverlauf, denn in dieser Phase wurden den Magdeburgern durch die Schiedsrichter zwei Treffer aberkannt. Nach Hagen Leditschkes Tor zum 4:7 kam noch einmal Hoffnung auf. Doch die Prager ließen sich nicht beeindrucken und trafen zur 4:8 Führung. Ein Überzahlspiel für die Magdeburger vollendete Kiril Litvin 4 Sekunden vor der letzten Pause zum 5:8 Anschluss. In den letzten acht Minuten setzte Magdeburg alles auf eine Karte und stemmte sich mit Herz und Leidenschaft gegen die drohende Niederlage. Ilia Butikashvili nutzte ein erneutes Überzahlspiel zum 6:8. Im Anschluss wurde den Magdeburgern erneut ein Treffer aberkannt. Im Gegenzug konterte Prag zum entscheidenden 6:9. Das Magdeburger Bollwerk war gebrochen. Die Prager erzielten noch zwei Treffer zum 6:11 Endstand. „Glückwunsch an Stepp Prag. Wie so oft in dieser Saison waren wir am Gegner dran, verloren aber nach der Halbzeit den Anschluss. Unsere Fehler im Aufbauspiel wurden gnadenlos bestraft. Trotzdem bin ich mit der Abwehrarbeit und der mannschaftlichen Geschlossenheit meines Teams zufrieden. Wir haben dem Ost-Staffelmeister lange Paroli geboten. Ein besonderes Dankeschön geht an unsere Zuschauer für ihre Unterstützung während der Saison“, resümiert WUM Trainer Holger Dammbrück.
Die Magdeburger Wasserballer verabschieden sich am nächsten Wochenende mit Auswärtsspielen am Samstag bei der SG Wasserball Dresden und am Sonntag bei der HSG TH Leipzig in die Sommerpause.
