Krefeld gewinnt „Best-of-three“ Serie gegen Hamburg mit 2:1
Nach der enttäuschenden Leistung am Tag zuvor, gingen die Krefelder stark ersatzgeschwächt in die dritte und entscheidende Partie am Sonntag.
Aufgrund von Sperren aus Spiel 2 sowie Verletzungen, musste man auf mehrere Stammkräfte verzichten. Krefeld war gezwungen alles auf eine Karte zu setzen, um das scheinbar unmögliche noch zu schaffen – den vorzeitigen Klassenerhalt.
Das stark verjüngte Team um die Trainer Gabor Bujka und Werner Stratkemper startete hochkonzentriert in das Spiel und schien im Vergleich zum Vortag wie ausgewechselt.
Vorne konnte die SVK ihre Chancen eiskalt nutzen und überzeugte hinten durch eine solide Abwehrleistung. Einen großen Anteil hatte dabei Torwart Sebastian Vollmer. Krefeld führte zur Halbzeit mit 8:3.
Diesen Vorsprung konnte Krefeld durch viel Kampf und eine geschlossene Mannschaftsleistung bis zum Ende des dritten Viertels halten. Hamburg warf danach alles nach vorne und wollte sich nicht geschlagen geben. Das Team aus der Hansestadt konnte sich kurz vor Schluss nochmal auf 10:8 herankämpfen, ließ aber zu viele Chancen liegen, sodass die SVK die Partie und Serie für sich entschied.
Routinier und Mannschaftskapitän Lukas Stöffges war stolz auf das Team: „ Heute haben wir gezeigt, was alles möglich ist, wenn man als Team zusammenspielt. Wir hatten heute zwar auf dem Papier nicht den besten Kader im Wasser, haben aber jeder für den anderen gekämpft und am Ende verdient gewonnen. Ganz großes Kompliment an das Team!“
Konstantin Munz war mit drei Toren erfolgreichster Schütze der Krefelder: „Ich denke wir haben nach dem katastrophalen Spiel gestern heute die passende Antwort geliefert. Wir haben uns für die harte Arbeit in der Saison belohnt und spielen nächstes Jahr wieder erste Liga. Nach den vielen Veränderungen vor der Saison, können wir stolz auf uns sein, dass wir so eine gute Saison gespielt haben.“
