Gründungsmitglied und langjähriger Vereinspräsident Serban Dan Costa feiert runden Geburtstag und hat immer noch ein Wasserball-Herz
Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h. c. Serban Dan Costa, Leiter der Universitätsfrauenklinik Magdeburg, feierte vor wenigen Wochen seinen 60. Geburtstag. Als Gründungsmitglied und langjähriger Präsident der Wasserball Union Magdeburg e. V. (WUM) bat er im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten um Spenden für seinen ehemaligen Verein. Insgesamt kamen dadurch 1.575€zusammen. Über diese hohe Summe war selbst Serban Dan Costa erstaunt: „Es hat mich sehr gefreut, dass alle meine Gäste sofort und gerne bereit waren, eine Spende für den Magdeburger Jugendsport zu tätigen. Aus eigener Erfahrung kann ich sagen, dass es für die Gesundheit und die Entwicklung unserer Kinder kaum etwas Besseres als Sport gibt und Wasserball gehört allemal dazu. Aber guten Sport kann man ohne finanzielle Unterstützung nicht betreiben. Da die staatliche Förderung aller Wassersportarten sozusagen „übersichtlich“ ist, obwohl unsere Stadt eine immense Tradition hat, sind wir alle aufgerufen, selbst etwas zu tun. Durch unsere bescheidene Aktion hoffe ich, auch andere Bürger dieser Stadt dazu zu bewegen, junge Sportler finanziell zu unterstützen. Meine Vorstellung ist einfach: Wenn viele ein bisschen was tun, ist das Ergebnis VIEL !“
Die stolze Summe wurde kürzlich an Silvio Schulle, Vereinsvorsitzenden der WUM, übergeben. Dieser ist begeistert: „Das ist eine nicht alltägliche Spende, die wir gezielt in den Vereinsnachwuchs investieren wollen. Denn gerade die jetzige Situation um die Schließung der Dynamo Schwimmhalle wirft den Magdeburger Wasserballsport und unser Vereinsleben weit zurück. Wir haben derzeit bereits ähnliche Folgen wie bei der Renovierung der Schwimmhalle 2011/2012, können nicht einmal in unsere Büros. Durch die erhöhten finanziellen Belastungen ist diese Spende für uns eine tolle Unterstützung. Unser Dank geht an alle Spender und insbesondere an Prof. Dr. Costa!“
