Am kommenden Wochenende werden beide DWL Teams des SV Bayer 08 Auswärts antreten müssen. Während die 1.Damenmannschaft in Hannover punkte sammeln will, startet die 1.Herrenmannschaft in Esslingen in die Playoffs.
Um 16:00 Uhr wird in Esslingen der Startschuss für die Playoffs der DWL Herren fallen. Dann treffen dort der SSV Esslingen und der SV Bayer 08 zum Spiel 1 der best of three Serie im Viertelfinale um die deutsche Meisterschaft aufeinander. Die letzten Wochen vor dieser Begegnung haben die Teams ganz unterschiedlich verbracht. Der SSV Esslingen musste sich durch die Relegationsduelle mit der Gruppe B zunächst noch für das Viertelfinale qualifizieren. Derweil konnte sich das Uerdinger Team um das heutige Geburtstagskind Tim Wollthan (35) bereits voll auf die Playoffs konzentrieren, da sie mit dem neuralgischen vierten Tabellenplatz die direkte Qualifikation geschafft hatten. Dennoch kann nicht davon gesprochen werden, dass die Werkssieben als Favorit in dieses Playoff Duell geht. Noch nicht vergessen ist die bittere Punktspiel Niederlage in Esslingen erst Ende Januar. Der SSV Esslingen überrollte die Uerdinger gerade zu mit 17:3 Toren. Aber diese Niederlage konnte das Team vom Waldsee gut wegstecken und zeigte sich im weiteren Saisonverlauf bisher wieder deutlich erstarkt. Es wird also abzuwarten sein, welches der beiden Teams nun besser in die Playoffs starten kann.
Zum Spiel 2 der Serie werden sich die beiden Mannschaften dann am nächsten Wochenende am Uerdinger Waldsee treffen. Am Samstag um 18:45 Uhr wird diese dann angepfiffen. Um sich bereits in der noch laufenden Saison bei den Fans zu bedanken stiftet die 1.Herrenmannschaft an diesem Abend 30min vor Anpfiff, von 18:15 – 18:45 Uhr den Zuschauern Freibier. Und auch nach Beginn der Begegnung wird weiter zu einem freundlichen Preis ausgeschänkt.
Ein eventuell notwendiges Spiel 3 würde dann am Sonntagmittag ebenfalls in der Traglufthalle am Waldsee zur Austragung kommen.
30min Später als ihre männlichen Kollegen greift die 1.Damenmannschaft in Hannover ins Geschehen ein. Um 16:30 Uhr wird dort das Topspiel der DWL Frauen, zwischen dem Hannoverschen SV und dem SV Bayer 08, angepfiffen. Anders als bei den Herren geht es hier für die Uerdingerinnen noch um die letzten beiden Punkte vor den Playoffs. Sollte ihnen hier ein weiterer Sieg gelingen so würde das Team des Trainergespanns Pia Schledorn / Sybille Kaisers einmal mehr mit einer weißen Weste in die Playoffs einziehen. In Anbetracht der derzeitigen Überlegenheit und des Hinspielergebnisses (17:5) würde wohl alles andere die Wasserballszene sehr überraschen. Neben dem ungeschlagenen Playoffeinzug steht noch eine weitere Schallmauer an, die in dieser Partie wohl gebrochen wird. Das Team vom Waldsee konnte in der laufenden Saison bisher 195 Tore erzielen und wird mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit in Hannover die 200 Tore Marke überschreiten.
