Im Endrunden-Turnier des Landespokals setzte sich am Sonnabend die Bundesliga-Reserve des OSC Potsdam gegen den gastgebenden SSV PCK 90 Schwedt 27:5 (9:1, 7:0, 3:4, 8:0) und die SGW Brandenburg II 10:7 (3:1, 3:3, 1:0, 3:3) durch. Die nur zu neunt angereisten Potsdamer verteidigten damit etwas überraschend den Landespokal.
Deutlich schwerer wurde die Partie gegen den Gastgeber erwartet, doch gerade den offensiven Potsdamer Qualitäten hatten die Uckermärker nichts entgegenzusetzen. Bereits nach dem ersten Viertel erstritt der OSC eine 9:1-Führung, zur Halbzeit stand es 16:1. Im dritten Viertel ließ der Pokalverteidiger die Zügel etwas schleifen. Natürlich geriet der Sieg nie in Gefahr. Beim 27:5 zeigte sich mit elf Treffern Ex-Bundesliga-Kapitän Jacob Drachenberg in besonderer Torlaune. Die übrigen Tore markierten Tommy Jeschull (5), Andreas Grösser (4), Nico Wernicke, Erik Bock (je 3) und Martin Bernsee (1).
Im entscheidenden Spiel gegen Brandenburg, das zuvor Schwedt mit 15:2 bezwang, begann der OSC mit zwei erfolgreichen Fernwürfen durch Jeschull. Brandenburg erzielte im direkten Gegenzug das 2:1, mit dem 3:1 durch Bernsee ging es in die erste Pause. Eine kompakte Defensive um den guten Jürgen Schulze im Tor ließ wenig zu, vorn wurden die erspielten Chancen im zweiten Viertel clever durch Drachenberg (2) und Bock genutzt. Doch das junge Brandenburger Team gab sich noch nicht geschlagen und kam durch drei schnelle Treffer innerhalb einer Minute auf 6:4 zur Halbzeit wieder ran. Der defensiv geprägte dritte Abschnitt hatte das bessere Ende für den OSC, der den einzigen Treffer (Grösser) erzielte. Ein fulminanter Start im Schlussviertel mit Treffern von Jeschull, Drachenberg und Bock zum 10:4 zu Beginn des letzten Viertels sorgte für die Vorentscheidung. Zwar markierte die SGW noch drei Tore zum 10:7-Endstand, der Sieg und der damit verbundene Pokalgewinn war allerdings nie gefährdet.
