Bundesliga-Wasserballer holen im blu drei Punkte und empfangen am Mittwoch Neukölln zum ersten Viertelfinal-Spiel
Die Bundesliga-Wasserballer des OSC Potsdam haben beim finalen Doppelspieltag der DWL-Pro A-Hauptrunde die Nerven behalten und sich als Fünfter für die Play-Offs qualifiziert. Im entscheidenden Spiel am Sonnabend besiegte das Team von Trainer Alexander Tchigir den SV Bayer 08 Uerdingen 11:9 (3:3, 3:1, 4:4, 1:1) und verwies die Rheinländer auf den siebten Platz, der den Gang in die Relegation gegen den Zweiten der B-Gruppe bedeutet. Auch am Sonntag war der OSC im heimischen blu sehr lang auf Siegeskurs und holte beim 13:13 (3:2, 5:2, 2:4, 3:5) zumindest noch einen Punkt gegen den Tabellendritten ASC Duisburg.
Bereits vor dem Spieltag standen die Champions League-Teams Waspo 98 Hannover und Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 als Spitzenreiter fest und hielten sich auch diesmal schadlos. Mit je 26:2 Punkten sind die beiden Teams bereits fürs Halbfinale qualifiziert. Direkt in die Pro B abgestiegen sind indes die White Sharks Hannover, die den letzten Strohhalm nicht mehr ergreifen konnten und beide Partien verloren. Die Plätze drei bis sechs kämpfen nun im Modus „Best-of-five“ im Viertelfinale um den Einzug in den Kreis der besten vier Mannschaften Deutschlands. Während es Duisburg mit dem Sechsten SSV Esslingen zu tun bekommt, geht es für den OSC ins Lokalderby gegen die SG Neukölln. Mit 13:15 Zählern konnten sich die Berliner knapp vor dem OSC (11:17) platzieren und hätten ein Heimspiel mehr, so denn die Serie über die volle Distanz von fünf Partien andauert.
Anpfiff der ersten Begegnung ist bereits am Mittwoch (20 Uhr) im blu, weiter geht es dann am Wochenende in Schöneberg (Sonnabend, 16 Uhr; Sonntag, 12 Uhr). Die Spiele vier und fünf kommen – wenn notwendig – am 4. April in Potsdam und 7. April in Berlin zur Austragung.
„Das ist natürlich ein Traum für unsere Fans“, bewertet André Laube, sportlicher Leiter im OSC, die Konstellation. „Mit der S-Bahn können sie zum Auswärtsspiel. Daheim sind sie ohnehin eine Bank.“ Auch in den Spielen am Wochenende sorgte die Tribüne phasenweise für frenetische Stimmung und peitschte die OSC-Sieben nach vorn.
Gegen Uerdingen am Sonnabend war dies gerade während der nervösen Anfangsphase von großer Bedeutung. Zwar legte der OSC durch Ferdinand Korbel (1:0) und Lukas Küppers (2:1, 3:2) im ersten Viertel jeweils vor, die Gäste kamen aber durch gekonnte Einzelaktionen immer wieder zum Ausgleich und gingen zu Beginn des zweiten Durchgangs sogar 4:3 in Front. In der Folge kontrollierten die Hausherren zwar die Partie, konnten sich aber nicht entscheidend absetzen. Drei Treffer in Folge durch Hannes Schulz (2), undErik Miers führten zum 6:4 zur Halbzeit. Nach torreichem dritten Viertel – für Potsdam trafen Matteo Dufour, Korbel, Schulz und Reiko Zech – hieß es 10:8 vor dem letzten Abschnitt. Dort markierte Dufour den entscheidenden Treffer zum 11:8, bevor Uerdingen gut drei Minuten vor dem Abpfiff den Endstand erzielte.
Befreit konnte der OSC nun am Sonntag aufspielen. Mit Toren von Küppers und Zech fanden die Potsdamer optimal ins Spiel. Wie im Rausch spielte die Tchigir-Sieben dann im zweiten Abschnitt, als sie sich nach Toren von Küppers, Schulz (2), Korbel, Dufour und Zech bis auf 8:4 absetzten. Doch der Tabellendritte ließ sich nicht abschütteln und kämpfte sich nach dem Seitenwechsel heran. Küppers und Dufour trafen im dritten Viertel für den OSC, Potsdams Keeper Marc Langer musste allerdings viermal hinter sich greifen. Der letzte Abschnitt war dann an Spannung nicht zu überbieten. Küppers erzielte das 11:9 und Tomi Tadin das 12:10. Als der fünffache Torschütze und zum „Spieler des Tages“ gewählte Küppers gut zwei Minuten vor Schluss zum 13:11 einnetzte, war der doppelte Punktgewinn so gut wie in Tüten. Doch die Duisburger kamen noch einmal auf und glichen zum 13:13 aus.
