Am 20.01.2018 ist erneut Derbyzeit in der Sport- und Lehrschwimmhalle Schöneberg, am Sachsendamm 11.
Die SG Neukölln ist zu Gast beim Deutschen Rekordmeister Wasserfreunde Spandau 04. Anpfiff ist um 16:00 Uhr.
Nach der Weihnachtspause stehen die Neuköllner auf einem hervorragenden 4. Tabellenplatz, mit 8:8 Punkten und 81:94 Toren und befinden sich somit im Soll.
Die Spandauer rangieren mit einer weißen Weste (16:0 Punkte) auf dem 1. Platz, mit beeindruckenden 99 Plus-Toren (135:36). Das Top-Spiel gegen Waspo Hannover gewannen die Berliner auswärts, überraschend deutlich, mit 10:7 Toren.
Auch in der Champions League sind die Spandauer äußerst erfolgreich. Am vergangenen Samstag, 13.01.2017, gewannen sie ihr Auswärtsspiel gegen den Rumänischen Meister Steaua Bukarest mit 6:5 Toren.
In der Gruppe B belegen sie somit nach 6 von 14 Spieltagen, zusammen mit Szolnok (Ungarn) und Pro Recco (Italien), mit 15 Punkten Platz 1 und sind auf einem guten Weg das Final 8 zu erreichen. Die SG Neukölln drückt weiterhin die Daumen!
Die Wasserball-Männer der Schwimmgemeinschaft Neukölln treffen also auf einen bereits hervorragend aufgelegten, amtierenden Deutschen Meister, der auch in dieser Saison wieder Topfavorit, für den Gewinn der Deutschen Meisterschaft ist.
Das Hinspiel endete versöhnlich, mit einem 17:6 für die Wasserfreunde.
Über die Weihnachtsfeiertage sind die Trainingsbedingungen für die Neuköllner stets suboptimal, so dass einige Tage lang nicht trainiert werden konnte. Mittlerweile ist der Trainingsbetrieb aber wieder in vollem Gange und Coach Schertwitis kann personell aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Alle Spieler sind gesund und an Bord, auch Center Spencer Hamby ist vom Lehrgang mit der US-Amerikanischen Nationalmannschaft in Kalifonien zurück an die Spree gekehrt.
Hoffen wir darauf, dass die Neuköllner gut aus der Pause gekommen sind und ihren Rhythmus bereits wiedergefunden haben.
