Weidener Wasserballer hungrig auf Wettkampf
(prg) Die Wasserballer des Schwimmvereines Weiden verlängerten ihre Weihnachtspause durch eine kurze Trainingsmaßnahme auf Grand Canaria. Das erste Spiel des Jahres, das auf den vergangenen Samstag terminiert war, wurde verlegt und die Aigner-Schützlinge nützten die Möglichkeit, eine 4-tätige Maßnahme in Las Palmas zu absolvieren. Mit ordentlicher Portion Training im Gepäck und höchst motiviert, endlich um die Punkte zu spielen, erwarten die SV-ler am kommenden Samstag den PSV Stuttgart in der Weidener Thermenwelt. Anpfiff ist um 18:00 Uhr.
Noch Anfang Dezember wurden die Oberpfälzer in Stuttgart ihrer Favoritenrolle gerecht und schlugen die Schwaben klar mit 19:7 Toren. In heimischen Gewässern und mit dem Trainingsschub aus dem Trainingslager könnte es am kommenden Samstag eigentlich nur einen Favoriten geben, Trainer Thomas Aigner ist sehr zuversichtlich: „Die Trainingsmaßnahme auf Gran Canaria ging völlig auf. Wir haben sehr wichtige und intensive Trainingseinheiten absolviert, hatten einen sehr anspruchsvollen Trainingspartner und konnten sehr viel Energie tanken. Auch die Teambildungsmaßnahmen zeigten ihre Wirkung. Wir nehmen diese Erfahrungen gerne als Grundlage her, um den Rest der Saison erfolgreich zu gestallten. Am Samstag fangen wir gegen Stuttgart damit an, ich freue mich, dass es endlich wieder losgeht“ äußerte sich der Coach noch vor dem Abschlusstraining. Wenn bis Samstag alle gesund bleiben, dürfte er auch wieder aus dem vollen schöpfen, ihm stünde nämlich der gesamte Kader zur Verfügung.
„Die Mannschaft arbeitet sehr engagiert, die Stimmung ist sehr gut, wir haben Spaß miteinander. Das einzige, was uns jetzt bremsen kann, ist Verletzungspech oder Krankheitsausfälle. Wir hoffen, in dieser Saison davon verschont zu bleiben“ erklärt Kapitän Thomas Kick die Lage in den Reihen seines Teams. „Wir haben noch sehr schwere Spiele zu absolvieren, fühlen uns aber der Aufgabe gewachsen, den Meistertitel zu verteidigen“ ergänzt er. Schon in einer Woche (am 27.01.) gastieren die Oberpfälzer beim Mitfavoriten SG Stadtwerke München und können, bereits bei dem richtungsweisenden Spiel, ihre Ambitionen unterstreichen.
