Spiel gegen Ludwigshafen verlegt
(prg) Nach einer kurzen Weihnachtspause geht es bei den Weidener Wasserballern mit der laufenden Saison weiter, allerdings wird das erste Spiel des Jahres verlegt. Aufgrund der alten Kontakte des Trainers Thomas Aigner mit dem Kanarischen Klub CN Metropole Las Palmas kam es zu einer gemeinsamen Trainingsmaßnahme auf Gran Canaria, die Weidener Wasserballer gastieren von 11.01. bis 14.01. auf der Insel. Das Spiel gegen Ludwigshafen, das für den 13.Januar angesetzt war, wurde auf den Sonntag, 4. März um 13:00 Uhr verlegt.
Bereits im Herbst 2009 trainierten die SV-ler in Las Palmas. Thomas Aigner absolvierte damals, kurz davor, sein Auslandssemester auf Gran Canaria und knöpfte viele Kontakte in der Wasserballszene der Insel. Es kam schnell zu einer Vorbereitungsmaßnahme, die damals gehörige Früchte trug. Die Weidener stiegen in der damaligen Saison in die Gruppe A der Deutschen Wasserball-Liga und platzierten sich am Ende auf dem historischen Rang sechs der höchsten Deutschen Spielklasse, was letztendlich auch die Teilnahme im Europa-Cup (Kotor 2010) ermöglichte. „Wir haben gute Erinnerungen an Las Palmas und hoffen, mit dieser Maßnahme einen zusätzlichen Schub in die Mannschaft zu bekommen. Sieben bis acht Trainingseinheiten mit einem anspruchsvollen Gegner bringen uns sicherlich weiter. Außerdem wollen wir in der gemeinsamen Zeit weiter zusammenwachsen. Ich freue mich sehr, dass es geklappt hat und bedanke mich auch bei den Ludwigshafener für das sportliche Verhalten. Sie haben der Spielverlegung kurzfristig zugestimmt, nachdem wir überraschend die Einladung erhielten“ freut sich Trainer Aigner auf die vielversprechende Maßnahme.

Das Spiel am 13.Janaur in der WTW findet nicht statt, es wird am Sonntag, den 4.März um 13:00 Uhr ausgetragen.
