OSC mit sechstem Platz bei deutschen Meisterschaften
Das Pech klebte dem OSC Potsdam zu Beginn der U15-Endrunde um die deutschen Meisterschaften in Hannover geradezu an den Händen. Bevor überhaupt das erste Spiel am Freitag-Abend angepfiffen wurde, musste Torjäger Simon Kuhn wegen einer Erkältung passen. Dann erwischte es Centerverteidiger Levin Lill nach gut zwei Minuten der ersten Partie gegen den SSV Esslingen. In einem unglücklichen Zweikampf erlitt der Führungsspieler einen Mittelhandbruch der rechten Hand und schied für den Rest des Turnieres aus.
„Wir waren ohnehin nur krasser Außenseiter, durch das Fehlen zwei der besten Spieler eigentlich chancenlos“, beschrieb Trainer André Laube, der Coach Hannes Schulz für die ersten drei Spiele vertrat, da dieser selbst beim DWL-Spiel gegen den SSV Esslingen (20:7) am Samstag-Abend ins Wasser musste. „Was hier dann aber einige Spieler geleistet haben, war phänomenal“, so Laube. Trotz starker kämpferischer Leistungen gingen die ersten Spiele zum Teil deutlich verloren. Gegen den späteren Silbermedaillengewinner Esslingen hielt der OSC bis zur Halbzeit (2:3) sehr gut dagegen, verlor am Ende aber 5:12. Am Sonnabend unterlag Potsdam dem ASC Duisburg 4:13, der SG Neukölln 0:9. Gegen den späteren Meister und Gastgeber White Sharks Hannover setzte es ein 3:22, und die Endrunde schien ohne Punktgewinn zu enden.
In einem dramatischen Spiel gegen den SV Würzburg 05, gegen den der OSC in der Zwischenrunde noch in Bestbesetzung 3:11 verlor, siegten die Havelstädter tatsächlich 12:11 (2:3, 3:4, 2:2, 5:2). „Wir hatten damals Revanche angekündigt, dass es aber unter den Voraussetzungen klappt, ist toll“, sagte Laube. „Die Jungs haben an sich geglaubt und alles gegeben. Das war mehr als nur ein versöhnlicher Abschluss“, ergänzte Schulz, der die beiden Spiele am Sonntag coachte. Dabei begann die Begegnung äußerst unglücklich. 3:0 gingen die Bayern in Führung, doch Treffer von Marc Lehmann und Kapitän Tilman Voigt führten zum Anschluss vor der ersten Pause. Im zweiten Abschnitt erzielte Lehmann zwar das 3:4, doch in der Folge setzte sich Würzburg bis auf 7:3 ab. Noch vorm Seitenwechsel traf Lehmann per Doppelpack zum 5:7. Ab dem dritten Viertel wurde die Schulz-Truppe mutiger. Immer wieder erarbeitete sich das Team gute Möglichkeiten und ging nach Toren von Nils Findling, Noel Eisenreich, Voigt, Maurice Schmidt und Lehmann (2) gut drei Minuten vor Schluss erstmals mit 11:10 in Front. Zwar gelang Würzburg noch der Ausgleich, aber Lehmann krönte seine starke Leistung mit seinem siebten Treffer zum 12:11-Endstand.
Der Sieg veränderte aber nichts am sechsten Platz des Finalturnieres. Mit 2:8 Punkten und 24:67 Toren musste der OSC Gastgeber Hannover (10:0), Esslingen (7:3), Duisburg (6:4), Würzburg (3:7) und Neukölln (2:8) den Vortritt lassen.
