Potsdamer Nachwuchs bereitet sich in Nováky auf Finalturniere vor
Der Wasserball-Nachwuchs des OSC Potsdam hat sich sowohl mit der U15 als auch der U13 für die beiden in Kürze anstehenden Endrunden-Turniere um die deutschen Meisterschaften qualifiziert. Neben den Havelstädtern gelang es lediglich den White Sharks Hannover und dem SSV Esslingen, sich mit beiden Teams für die Finalturniere der besten sechs Mannschaften Deutschlands zu qualifizieren. Die U15 wird vom 3. bis 5. November ihren Meister in Hannover küren, zwei Wochen später geht es für die U13 in Esslingen um die Medaillen.
Der OSC Potsdam gehört in beiden Wettbewerben nicht zum engeren Favoritenkreis, möchte sich aber teuer verkaufen. „Die Mannschaften haben sich jeweils über die Zwischenrunde qualifiziert“, sagt André Laube, sportlicher Leiter des OSC. „Es gibt in den entsprechenden Jahrgängen stärkere Mannschaften als uns, aber wir wollen uns mit den besten messen und gestärkt aus den Turnieren gehen.“ In der Zwischenrunde spielen jeweils die Zweiten der vier Vorrunden um die letzten beiden Plätze des Sechser-Finalturniers, während die Sieger direkt in die Endrunde einziehen. Die U15 qualifizierte sich am 21./22. Oktober in Krefeld als Zweiter der Zwischenrunde. Nach überzeugenden Siegen gegen den SV Bayer 08 Uerdingen (9:4) und die SV Krefeld 72 (17:4) verloren die Jungs von Trainer André Laube 3:11 gegen den SV Würzburg 05. „Nachdem wir am Samstag nach den beiden Siegen mit der Quali durch waren, konnten wir am Sonntag nicht mehr an die Leistungen des Vortages anknüpfen“, ärgerte sich Laube. Bei der Endrunde sei aber Gelegenheit, sich für die hohe Niederlage zu revanchieren.
Die U13 machte es letztes Wochenende souveräner. Ohne Punktverlust marschierte das Team von Trainer Gregor Karstedt durch die Zwischenrunde in Berlin. Nach einem 9:8-Erfolg gegen die später zweitplatzierten Wasserfreunde Spandau 04, siegten die Potsdamer am Sonntag gegen die SG Neukölln 11:4 und den SV 1957 Georgsmarienhütte 23:9.
Um sich den letzten Feinschliff vor den Jahreshöhepunkten zu holen, werden die aktuellen Herbstferien intensiv für Trainingslager genutzt. Die U15 befindet sich gerade im slowakischen Nováky und trainiert mit dem dortigen starken Nachwuchs. Am Freitag reist die Mannschaft direkt von dort nach Halle/Saale und nimmt am Internationalen Herbstpokal teil. Das U13-Team macht sich am morgigen Donnerstag nach drei Trainingstagen in Brandenburg ebenfalls nach Nováky auf und spielt ab Freitag im Meridiana-Cup gegen die slowakischen Vertretungen des KVP Nováky, KVP Kúpele Piestany, Nereus Zilina und SK Hornets Kosice sowie Vaterpolsko Drustvo Kamnik aus Slowenien. „Das ist die perfekte Einstimmung auf die Endrunde“, freut sich Karstedt.
