Am Samstag wurde das junge Team von George Triantafillou das erste Mal gefordert. Gegner war der letztjährige Titel-Konkurrent SV Nikar Heidelberg.
Schon anfangs war klar, dass man diese Saison eine andere Richtung einschlagen wird. Heidelberg zeigte direkt, dass es für die Waldseenixen nichts zu holen geben wird und führte nach dem ersten Viertel bereits mit 5:0. Das zweite Viertel konnten die Mädels sogar für sich entscheiden und kamen zur Halbzeit mit 4:8 zwar nicht gefährlich, aber dennoch etwas näher an die Heidelbergerinnen ran.
Doch in der zweiten Halbzeit zog Heidelberg dann doch davon und gewann das Spiel am Ende deutlich mit 18:8. Beste Werferinnen für die Uerdinger waren Julia Eggert und Nele Baumbach mit jeweils drei Treffern.
„Trotz des recht deutlichen Ergebnisses, bin ich sehr stolz auf meine Mädels! Sie haben alle für einander gekämpft und konnten sogar das zweite Viertel für sich entscheiden. Es war eine sehr gute Erfahrung und wir werden im Training auf die gemachten Fehler eingehen. Das wird eine sehr harte Saison, aber ich denke wir wissen jetzt, in welchen Bereichen wir an uns arbeiten müssen!“, so ein dennoch zufriedener Triantafillou.
