Am kommenden Samstag starten die Seidenstadtgirls mit dem Supercupspiel gegen Heidelberg in die neue Saison.
Vieles hat sich seit letzter Saison verändert. Mit Ex-Kapitänin Claudia Blomenkamp, Anja und Bianca Seyfert und Bianca Ahrens, haben gleich vier wichtige Leistungsträger ihre Karriere beendet. Zudem ist Jung-Talent Belen Vosseberg bedauerlicherweise nach Hannover gewechselt. Neuzugänge gibt es so gut wie keine. Die meisten „neuen“ Spielerinnen kommen aus der eigenen Jugend. Das Team wurde stark verjüngt. Die ältesten Spielerinnen in der Mannschaft sind gerade erst einmal 21 Jahre jung. Auch das Trainer Erfolgs-Duo, Sybille Kaisers und Pia Schledorn, haben ihre aktive Trainerkarriere beendet. Der SV Bayer 08 hat ihnen etliche Titel zu verdanken. Die Trainersuche hat sehr lange gedauert. Erst spät hatte man mit George Triantafyllou einen perfekten Nachfolger für das Trainerduo gefunden.
„Wir sind gerade erst am Anfang unserer Vorbereitung, da ich das Team recht spät
übernommen habe. Heidelberg geht als klarer Favorit in dieses Spiel. Der Supercup ist für uns eine tolle Gelegenheit, um unsere geübten Spielweisen auszuprobieren. Leider sind zwei unserer Spielerinnen verletzt und sechs mussten sich krankheitsbedingt abmelden. Dennoch möchte ich, dass die Mädels das Beste aus sich rausholen. Wir treten mit einer sehr jungen Mannschaft an. Unsere jüngste Spielerin ist Greta Tadday, mit gerade einmal 14 Jahren.“, so Trainer Triantafyllou.
