Am Samstag starteten die diesjährigen DWL-Medaillenspiele der Frauen, dabei standen sich im Finale erstmalig Titelverteidiger SV Bayer 08 Uerdingen und der SV Nikar Heidelberg gegenüber. Nachdem die Heidelbergerinnen dem Uerdinger Team bereits den Pokal -Titel abnehmen konnten, trat die Mannschaft von Pia Schledorn in diesem wichtigen ersten Spiel in Heidelberg von der ersten Sekunde an hoch konzentriert auf und gewann schließlich in einer umkämpften Partie verdient mit 13:11 (5:2,3:4,3:2,2:3).
Sowohl kämpferisch als auch spielerisch wusste das Team vom Waldsee zu überzeugen und legte bereits mit einem guten Start im ersten Viertel den Grundstein zum wichtigen Auswärtssieg. Auch eine sehr starke Defensivleistung trug letztendlich dazu bei das die Führung bis zum Schluss hielt. Einzig die Chancenverwertung in den Überzahlsituationen wurde vom Trainerduo bemängelt, ansonsten hätte das Ergebnis am Ende auch noch etwas deutlicher ausfallen können.
Wieder einmal war Kapitänin Claudia Blomenkamp mit 6 Treffern überragende Torschützin auf Seiten des SV Bayer 08 Teams, die weiteren Treffer erzielten Bianca Seyfert (3), Belen Vosseberg (2), Aylin Fry (1) und Jamie Verebelyi (1).
Am kommenden Samstag 10.06.2017 um 16.00 Uhr kommt es nun im heimischen Aquadome schon zum voraussichtlich entscheidenden zweiten Spiel um den Titel, hier hoffen Verantwortliche, Mannschaft und natürlich das scheidende Tainerduo noch einmal auf zahlreiche Unterstützung der Krefelder Wasserballfans.
„Mit diesem Erfolg in Heidelberg haben wir einen ganz wichtigen Grundstein gelegt, jetzt können wir am kommenden Samstag zu Hause im Aquadome den Titel erneut nach Krefeld holen“, so eine zufriedene Pia Schledorn.
