Stadtwerke München verlieren zuhause gegen Leimen/Mannheim
(prg) Bloß kein Patzer mehr, um den Anschluss an den Meistertitelkampf nicht zu verlieren, hieß es noch im Vorbericht,. Eigene Spiele gewinnen und auf Stolperer der Konkurrenz hoffen, war die Devise, denn allein aus eigener Kraft war es noch vor dem letzten Spieltag nicht mehr möglich, die Liga zu gewinnen. Kaum ausgesprochen und prompt geschehen. Die Weidener Wasserballer gewinnen mit 12:8 souverän in Ludwigshafen und München stolpert über Leimen/Mannheim zuhause mit einer 12:14 Niederlage. Damit bleibt der Schwimmverein Weiden als einzige Mannschaft der 2. Wasserball-Liga Süd ungeschlagen und kehrt, dank der Schützenhilfe aus Leimen auf den Meisterkurs der Liga zurück.
„Das war eine solide und geschlossene Mannschaftsleistung, alle haben ihren Job souverän geliefert und keiner fiel diesmal aus der Reihe. Wir ließen uns nicht aus der Ruhe bringen und kontrollierten das Spiel mit zunehmender Spieldauer. Jetzt wird es wieder interessant“ freute sich Kapitän Thomas Kick nach der Partie in Ludwigshafen. In der Tat, mussten sich die Gäste aus der Oberpfalz zunächst zurecht finden, gerieten Anfangs unglücklich mit 0:1 und sogar 0:2 ins Hintertreffen, ehe sie nach und nach dem Gegner eigenes Spiel aufzwängten und unbeirrt das Spielgeschehen in eigene Hände nahmen. Nach dem 2:2 im ersten Viertel und 6:4 zur Halbzeit, erhöhten die Max-Reger-Städter im dritten Viertel deutlich den Druck und gingen mit 9:4 im Rücken in die letzte Spielpause. Der Schlussabschnitt ging zwar mit 4:3 an die Hausherren, der Sieg der SV-ler blieb aber stets ungefährdet. Nikolaj Neumann zeichnete sich in den entscheidenden Spielszenen mit guter Treffsicherheit aus und erzielte insgesamt 5 Tore in der Partie beim Tabellenfünften.
In zwei Wochen erwartet die Weidener ein Doppelspieltag beim BSC Pforzheim. Am Freitagabend bestreiten die beiden Teams das erste Viertelfinalspiel um den Süddeutschen Wasserball-Pokal und einen Tag später kommt es zum Rückspiel in der Runde der 2. Wasserball-Liga Süd. Die Jahn-Schützlinge hoffen auf den Einzug ins Halbfinale und Verteidigung der Tabellenführung am Rande des Schwarzwaldes.
Das nächste Heimspiel kommt am 1. April und es wird womöglich wiederholt um die Tabellenführung gehen, denn der Gast SGW Leimen/Mannheim liegt mit nur 4 Minuspunkten ebenfalls in der Lauerstellung. Aus dem Duett wurde zwischenzeitlich ein Dreikampf um die Meisterkrone im Süden. Hoffentlich, rutschen die Oberpfälzer auf der Zielgerade nicht mehr aus.
