WUM verliert 8:10 (1:1; 1:4; 3:5; 3:0) gegen den Tabellenzweiten SV Zwickau von 1904
Eigentlich waren die Rollen klar verteilt. Während der SV Zwickau als Tabellenzweiter und Favorit an die Elbe kam, waren die Magdeburger aufgrund einiger namhafter Ausfälle nur Außenseiter. Mit Tom Hagendorf, Tim Richter, Jos Schermer, Thomas Postera und Kiril Litvin vielen gleich fünf Stammkräfte für das Samstagspiel in der Dynamoschwimmhalle aus, so dass die Magdeburger nur mit zwölf Spielern antraten. Doch die WUM überraschte die Sachsen vor 90 Zuschauern gleich im ersten Viertel durch eine gute Abwehrarbeit. Die 1:0 Führung der Zwickauer glich der an diesem Tag gut aufgelegte Lukas Schulle mit einem sehenswerten Treffer in den Torwinkel zum 1:1 aus. Mehr Tore ließen die Abwehrreihen der beiden Mannschaften im ersten Spielabschnitt nicht zu. Während die Magdeburger im zweiten Viertel mehrfach an Latte oder Pfosten bzw. dem Zwickauer Schlussmann Matthias Schädlich scheiterten, konterten die Sachsen cleverer und zogen schnell auf 1:4 davon, ehe die WUM durch Holger Dammbrück zum 2:4 kam. Durch einen weiteren Gegentreffer gingen die Sachsen-Anhalter mit einem 2:5 Rückstand in die Halbzeitpause. Das torreiche dritte Viertel verloren die Magdeburger erneut durch die mangelnde Chancenverwertung. So ließ das Dammbrück Team gleich fünf beste Gelegenheiten liegen. Holger Dammbrück und zwei Treffer von Lukas Schulle sorgten bei fünf Gegentreffern für eine 5:10 Führung der Sachsen vor den letzte acht Minuten. Es spricht für die Moral der Magdeburger, dass sie sich nicht hängen ließen und noch einmal alles in die Wagschale warfen. Treffer von Jan Naveau, Holger Dammbrück und Ilia Butikashvili zum 8:10 machten die Partie noch einmal spannend, jedoch ließen die Sachsen mit viel Cleverness keine weiteren Treffer mehr zu. WUM Chef Silvio Schulle haderte nach dem Spiel zwar mit der Chancenverwertung, war aber mit der Einstellung des Teams zufrieden: „Aufgrund der vielen Ausfälle haben unsere Jungs das Beste draus gemacht und über eine geschlossene Mannschaftsleitung den Zwickauern Paroli geboten. Schade dass es am Ende nicht gereicht hat.“
Am nächsten Wochenende geht es nach Tschechien zu Stepp Prag. Hoffentlich stehen da wieder alle Spieler zur Verfügung.
