Auf Stippvisite kam am Montag-Mittag die Wasserball-Herren-Nationalmannschaft in Potsdam vorbei und ließ es sich nicht nehmen, im Olympia-Stützpunkt am Luftschiffhafen vorbeizuschauen. Zuvor waren die Hünen um ihren neuen Bundestrainer Patrick Weissinger auf Paddeltour auf der Havel unterwegs gewesen. „Wir wollten ein bisschen Abwechslung in den Auftakt-Lehrgang dieses Sommers bringen“, erklärte Weissinger den Besuch. Seit Sonnabend betreut er die Mannschaft in Berlin. Bis Donnerstag werden die Jungs dort noch gemeinsam trainieren, danach geht es zu einem internationalen Turnier nach Spanien. „Wir haben viel Zeit in den letzten Monaten verloren, in der die Mannschaft in der Luft hing“, so Weissinger, der vor seiner Trainerlaufbahn lange Zeit selbst Kapitän des deutschen Wasserball-Flaggschiffs war. Im Januar hatte sich die komplette Mannschaft gegen den bis dahin aktiven Bundestrainer Nebojsa Novoselac ausgesprochen, der daraufhin von dem Posten abgezogen wurde. Mit dem nun in der vergangenen Woche eingesetzten Weissinger soll das im letzten Jahr etwas schwächelnde Nationalteam wieder in ruhiges und vor allem erfolgreiches Fahrwasser geraten. „Alle wollen weiterhin das Ticket zu den olymppischen Spielen nach Rio lösen und werden dafür hart arbeiten“, sagt der Stuttgarter, der sich sehr angetan von der idyllischen Lage des OSP zeigte. Nach dem Paddeln brachten die Jungs kräftigen Hunger mit und ließen sich nicht lang bitten, als die „Kanuscheune“ vortreffliche Mengen an Grillgut bereitete.
