Zuvor bezwangen sie in den ersten beiden Turnierabschnitten die Zweitligisten SV Poseidon Hamburg (3:14) und SG Schöneberg (18:4), sowie den Erstligisten SG Neukölln (10:8) aus der A-Gruppe. Daraufhin traf die Mannschaft um Trainer Jörg Neubauer im Halbfinale auf den SKK Slagelse aus Dänemark, auch dieses Spiel konnte sie, mit einem Endergebnis von 14:4, ohne Probleme für sich entscheiden.
Das Turnier bot den Plauenern die hervorragende Möglichkeit, neue Spielzüge zu erproben, sowie bereits trainierte Kombinationen zu festigen, wobei alle Spieler zum Einsatz kamen. Der dreitägige Test in Berlin lässt den SVV zuversichtlich auf das kommende Heimspiel gegen den OSC Potsdam blicken. Doch auch die Potsdamer Gäste können von diesem Wochenende einen starken Rückenwind in die anstehende Partie mitnehmen. In der vierten Runde des DSV Pokals erkämpften sie sich einen beachtlichen 8:7 Sieg gegen den SV Bayer Uerdingen 08. Zur ersten Heimpartie im neuen Jahr am 17.01.15 um 16:00 Uhr, erwarten die Veranstalter eine besonders hohe Zuschauerzahl, für ausreichend Sitzplätze wird mit Hilfe einer Zusatztribüne für weitere 250 Gäste gesorgt, außerdem kommt eine neue Tontechnik zur Anwendung.
